A1.4 Audience with the King

Image
Early April- Onward to Minas Tirith : It was another 2-day trip back to the Lonesome Coach Inn (Crossing of Erui) where Theo paused to harvest honey from his hive left there weeks ago. But even the Inn offered little respite for Thran who suffered nightly visions of Sauron tormenting his dreams. Olaf the owner greeted them warmly, having forgotten the bar fight 10-days ago, “ First drink is on the house .” Tina, the barmaid, doted on Hugo for having saved her from that fire. But while the others raised a ruckus in the Inn, Theo took solace in the barn where he hid the iron coffer (holding the shard). He kept silent guard most of the night while relying on the animals to wake him if anyone (or anything) approached. Arrival at Last [roll 7+5=12: high spirits]: At least the last 2 days were traveled along the paved road. The sight of the white city only bolstered their spirits [all but Thran (per his nightmares) removed 2 Shadow Points]. Maybe Kyan recognized the strain on the elf as ...

A1.3 Shroud of Mystery

Theobard ( Theo ), 27yo Beorning Wanderer [Aaron], Thranduil ( Thran ), 250yo Elf Scholar [Joey], Kyan , 97yo Dwarf Warrior [Mike], Hugo , 28yo Hobbit Adventurer [NPC] Tinneas’ Farm : Before they departed, Tinneas asked them to bury the now rotting horse. Kyan assigned their captured thug ( Lon ) the task. “ By myself?! That will take all day .” It took 4 hours for him to hack up the horse into manageable parts to move and bury; in the process, he was drained of any fighting spirit. JOURNEY (to Minas Tirith) Alona cooked them rations for their 6–7-day trip (3-4 days back to the Inn then another 2-3 days to the city; faster without a cart and elder couple). Once again, Theo was their Guide with Thran the Scout and Hugo the Lookout . Kyan would be their Hunter (once their supplies ran out) as he also kept watch on Lon who carried the extra supplies. Tinneas reminded them about the bridge out, “ I guess when my mule panicked on the bridge, he must have cracked some boards that f...

A1.2 I’ll Take That

Theobard ( Theo ), 27yo Beorning Wanderer [Aaron], Thranduil ( Thran ), 250yo Elf Scholar [Joey], Kyan , 97yo Dwarf Warrior [Mike], Hugo , 28yo Hobbit Adventurer [NPC] Kyan collected 2 remaining poisoned darts from the trap as Thran gathered the cross bow & bolts from the stone guardian. They used the jeweled dagger to wedge the guardian to the side to keep the secret passage open. Thran dropped a stone to test the depth of the room below while Kyan dropped a lit torch to reveal metal spikes 20ft below! At least they had a metal ladder to descend. Suspicious, Kyan looped a rope around the guardian to aid their descent. Theo’s weight (232 lbs) was too much for the ancient ladder: [STR check: fumble but with luck] with a thud, the beorning just missed the spikes but was still injured by the fall. A glassy surface 3ft above the floor stretched into the distance. Theo placed a stone on the surface to confirm the slick floor had a slight downward angle, “Careful, there might be spik...

A1.1 At Your Service

Image
A1.1 At Your Service Theobard ( Theo ), 27yo Beorning Wanderer [Aaron]: Theo was a long way from home; sent by his Chieftain Grimbeorn to learn about threats south of their Carrock homeland. Treated as insignificant, the Beornings had to pry any news from civilized humans who expected others to tell all. At least the Beornings shared common threats with the neighboring elves in the Mirkwood forest, such as the recent sighting of orc activity to the north. Not that elves were all that talkative and sharers of information. Similar to the standoffish dwarfs who preferred to drink rather than talk. Thranduil ( Thran ), 250yo Elf Scholar [Joey]: Thran spent most of his years in the underground library of the Halls of Thranduil . A bookworm you might say, with little actual worldly experience. Maybe that’s why his queen tasked him with a quest to replenish herbs needed for special elvish medicine. “There is more to knowledge than that which i...
