A4E4: Proud Return to the Shire

Image
June 10 th , The Greenway South : The Greenway from Fornost to Bree once was a well-maintained road… a thousand years ago. Since that time, it became a long-forgotten passage as no-one traveled the road. [ Embarkation 8: Fine Weather - ignore 1 st level of Exhaustion] At least clear skies led their way and kept their spirits high on their 6-day trek to Bree. Not that Margo needed a boost as she was brimming with joy with news of the fabled Green Archer Company of Hobbits and their part supporting King Arvedui. She hummed their marching song which became a burr in Kyan’s butt, “ You’re scaring off game! Besides, you’re only warning any danger out there of our approach .” But the dwarf was out voted when Thran and Theo joined in the song. June 16 th , Bree : It was dusk when they arrived at the northern gate of Bree. The gate-guard peeked thru the small window and extended his hand to collect fees before he let them in. A4E3b: The Dead and Fallen

Image
[Scenario taken from the Eriador Adventures: Concerning Archers ] 7pm, June 6 th , The Capstone : They had spent a day exploring the broken, moss-covered stones that were once the walls and paved streets of the capital of the kingdom of Arthedain for any signs of Belemir’s passage. They humored Margo’s insistence that a company of hobbit archers had aided King Arvedui’s escape from the city those thousand years ago when the forces of Angmar overran the city. But a midnight attack of their camp from short, shadowy foe and today’s sneak attack by a goblin Snaga Tracker only convinced them forces of the new Shadow roamed these city ruins. That is: until they found broken blades and bows, and a torn banner, that hinted at the presence of hobbits during that time. But it was the faded and tattered map drawn on animal skin (with the initials ‘R.T.’) that led them to this spot within the center of the city. “ We must be within the walls of the king’s castle .” Kyan used his mirror to cat...

A4E3a: Onward to Fornost

May 18 th , Embarkation (5-2= Keen Eye of the Enemy) : With a packhorse for extra supplies needed for their 17 day+ journey (320 miles) to Fornost, and Theo’s study of the library maps of the area, they set out on the king’s assignment to look for signs of Belemir around the North Downs. With Radagast’s theory the Dark Queen has spies everywhere, Kyan was on high alert and flinched at every sighting of birds, even the pigeons that claimed the rooflines of Grey Haven. Yet days into blazing their own trail eastward through rolling hills and pockets of thin forests, Thran’s sharp eyes (as Lookout ) spotted a flock of crebain flying by: they hid within the trees. Being on edge, compounded with continual light drizzling from an overcast sky, wore heavy on their constitution. At least Margo was in high spirits, “ Think about it; the chance to prove hobbits came to the aid of King Arvedui (last king of the Arthedain realm) over a thousand years ago (TA1974) .” But Thran was skeptical, “ Th...
